Let's have a look at the recruitment process for working on a vessel on an offshore wind farm.Required certificates full STCW's, BOSIET and GWO Sea survival.Now that's 3 sea survivals, 2 firefighting, a first aid and an utter load of nonsense called Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.So look at it like this, I'm working on the deck of a ship and I somehow fall overboard, when I land in the water do I need to have a good look around to see if I'm near a platform or a turbine or just the ship before thinking about which type of survival training I'm going to use.Another way of putting it is this,STCW says 4+2=6OPITO says 5+1=6GWO says 3+3=6No matter which way you achieve it the answer is always going to be 6 but in order to get a job offshore these days you need to shell out £3000 ish to comply with these governing bodies.It's way past time when someone gave these organizations a shake to put an end to the endless ripping off of people who just want to get on and do their jobs and make a decent living.
