Is it real or is it AI? 🤷♂️Whether it’s a speech from President Biden or a new song from Drake — many of us find ourselves asking that question more and more often.AI has become scary good in seemingly no time. And even though it makes for a lot of fun memes, it’s also quickly becoming a huge cyber threat.According to Keeper Security’s latest report, there is a strong surge of cyber attacks that use AI-powered technology and deepfakes. The first measure you should take as a security leader to protect your organization is simple: make sure your employees are aware.Because when tech-savvy people are falling for AI, we have to assume our employees will do the same. With Guardey, your employees get weekly micro-learnings about cyber threats such as AI, phishing, and malware. This won’t necessarily ensure they’ll recognize every deepfake out there. But they will be aware of the fact that they ARE out there.

Regular (short) training is more effective than a yearly full-fledged course. Many organizations understand the importance of security awareness training. But they don’t want it to take too much time. However, they’re willing to give up one day a year for full-on training. There are two reasons why this is the wrong solution:𝟭. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻People can only retain so much information at a time, let alone retain it for a longer period. After a few weeks without repetition, we forget most of what we’ve learned, and awareness wavers.𝟮. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲Many organizations look at security awareness training as something they have to do for compliance reasons. “Let’s just set up a yearly training and we’ll be good.”Wrong. Most information security standards, such as ISO 27001 and NIS2, require organizations to offer regular awareness training to employees.𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼-𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀The modern solution is simple: micro-learning and gamification. Now that attention spans are shorter than ever, but cybercrime is at an all-time high, security awareness training can no longer be long-winded and boring. With regular, short training materials and gamification elements such as leaderboards, badges, and storylines, you can keep users engaged and make sure their awareness improves over time.

Here’s why you’re doing phishing simulations wrong 👇Most of us are aware of phishing and understand that we shouldn’t click every random link we get in our inbox. That’s why cyber criminals have had to become smarter. With social engineering, they now find deeply personal information about their target before engaging in a phishing attack. This method is also called spear phishing. But the traditional phishing simulations (automated, templated) don’t prepare you for this type of phishing. And if your organization’s phishing score is fantastic, it may even give you a false sense of security. That’s why we’re now offering spear phishing simulations at Guardey. Here, we take the time to do social engineering that actually puts your employees to the test. It’s more time-consuming, tough to automate, and impossible to do with standard templates. But it’s the only way to truly ‘simulate’ a phishing attack in 2024.Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to learn more about it 💬

I’m proud to announce Guardey’s latest partner: International Security Partners 🙌International Security Partners is a risk management organization that works with some of the biggest corporate brands in The Netherlands. They used to offer their customers in-person security awareness training, which was very labor-intensive.“A trainer would go to a physical location and could train about 15 people at a time during a session of 1,5 hours. This becomes a huge task when an organization has 500 employees or more,” says Evert Slaman, general manager at International Security Partners. With Guardey, their customers can now train security awareness online.“Guardey is the best fit for our customers because it uses a lot of gamification elements to engage users. It has a storyline, short challenges, and a leaderboard, which causes friendly competition among colleagues.”Welcome on board, International Security Partners!https://lnkd.in/eRstVuMp

You’ve probably heard about phishing before, but have you ever heard of vishing?Vishing is a phishing scam that happens through a phone call. The criminal calls you and pretends to be somebody you know, often a coworker, by using AI.With AI, you can mimic someone’s voice from audio and video recordings. So how can you avoid this? The first step is always AWARENESS.Make sure your employees understand that AI is capable of a lot.Next, always request some form of two-factor authentication.Even during phone calls.
